As I do every year, I am looking forward to my annual Artist Home Show next Saturday, November 11 from 11am-4pm. This year’s artists include Marita Valdizan and Owen O’Reilley. Featuring a great selection of gifts in all price ranges. Hope you’ll stop by and join us on this festive, fun day of great art and commaraderie.
As an artist, you try not to fall in love with every piece you make. Sometimes, it’s hard not to do just that.
For me, I fell in love with this piece, Cathedral. Some pieces that I work on I have to plan out, but this piece really grew organically. I love the motion and soft, subtle colors playing against each other.
I finished this piece earlier this year, but it’s one that I like to keep coming back to. It’s a restful spot in a whimsical forest – and who doesn’t need that at least every once in a while. What is your restful spot?
I recently created this piece for a local exhibit with the theme, Celebrate Art! I know that art is many different things for different people, but I think on some level, art nourishes all of us in some way. I know it has me. The sheer act of creativity, and working with my hands to create a piece of art, has been nourishing, freeing, celebratory, and simply brings me happiness each and every time I create. I’d love to hear from you and know how art has nourished you – email@example.com.
I’m in love with gray lately – and abstracts – so this seemed piece kind of happened organically. Recently finished this piece called Ancient Lands. Would love to know your thoughts. This one’s available for purchase. Just email me – firstname.lastname@example.org – if you’re interested.
I’m excited to be in Hinsdale for my first outdoor fair of the season! I hope you’ll stop by this lovely setting and enjoy some gorgeous art and nice weather. Fair runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Below is Garden of Miracles, one of my newest pieces that I’ll be showing this weekend. Stop by!
Thought it might be interesting for you to write a little bit about my process in creating a new piece. I usually always work on vellum artist paper or artist panel. I generally start with a pencil or ink sketch and then start to lay in color. So, here are Steps 1 & 2 for my new garden scene.
